What is Directive 060?

The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) outlines the requirements for flaring, incinerating, and venting (FFV) in Directive 017. What used to be laid out in this directive was also the measurement and estimating requirements but they have since been moved to Directive 060.

AER Directive 060

Directive 060 applies to all upstream producers and pipelines licenced by the AER. The overarching theme of the directive is to eliminate or reduce the environmental and safety concerns associated with FFV (fuel, flare, vent) activity.

This Directive will assist with those questions you may have regarding the FFV regulations surrounding your solution gas, well testing, gas plants, pipelines, fugitive emissions, sour gas and everyone’s favourite topic: flare logs!
